StartUp Academy if one of six electives at Galileo. StartUp pairs with US History in 11th grade and American Democracy/Economics in 12th grade. At least two projects per year are interdisciplinary, linking academy curriculum and social studies. The academy is designed to develop student's interests & cultivate entrepreneurial skills that are useful for any course of study or career.
Business professionals are often guest speakers in the classroom, such as marketing, web development, software engineering, management, branding, non-profit, tech start-up. Field trips are an integral part of our learning. Exposing students to diverse professions promotes self-awareness in work settings. The program's network connects students to a wide range of opportunities to find summer internships, jobs, or volunteer experiences.
Students can expect to develop their strengths and professional skills in speaking, group work, and become digitally astute. There will be job shadows, resume writing, mock interviews, and business proposals. Students will find their voice and gain interpersonal dexterity.
